  Have you ever come across this and wondered what it could be?   This is what it looks like when it is not buried.  
         
     
   
     
  And here is the explanation.  The stones were buried to mark telephone cables, they could be marked NK for "Nachrichten Kabel" or F for "Fernkabel".  
         
 

 Additionally the following inscriptions have been found: LM, LK, EH, F, T, W, E and K.
