  Y-Bodenstelle FuSAn 733.

Das Y-Verfahren (Jagd) was a system whereby the position of the fighter was established through radio range measurement by the Hans E-Mess Gerät and the bearing was established by the Heinrich Peiler.  The combination being known as Y-Bodenstelle FuSAn 733.  The function of the Jägerleit Stellungen was initially to track day-fighters and report their position to the Jagddivision, which performed the intercept control.  The positions were - at least in the initial site configuration - plotted on a Fluma Tisch (map scale 1.50.000), one for each Y-Bodenstellung; 5 in total in the Stellungszentrale.  These fighter positions were told to a Jägerleitoffizier (JLO) at the Zentral Gefechtsstand, one for each fighter/fighter formation.  The JLO in the Zentral Gefechtsstand would via a projector display this on the Hauptlage Karte (map scale 1:50.000), where tracks of allied aircraft, jamming reports and signals intelligence bearings and IDs were also displayed.  The JLO would then conduct the intercept based on the plot on the Hauptlage Karte and communicate with the fighter/formation by keying radios located in the Y-Stellung tracking the fighter/formation through landlines (FuG 16) .  Several sources indicates that intercept control could also be performed from the Jägerleit Stellung.  In this case the Hauptlage would be received from the Jagddivision and a JLO at the Stellung would perform the intercept.  This would require plotting of the Luftlage on a vertical plotting board (Lagekarte), and the transfer of the fighter position from the Fluma Tisch to the Lagekarte.  Again: This system was initially conceived for day-fighter control only.  After the employment of Chaff had been initiated, rendering Himmelbett impotent, this system was quickly put to use also at night, forming the backbone of Zahme Sau-Verfahren.
