The above picture clearly illustrates the complexity involved in absorbing, filtering and displaying the information received.  Plotting was conducted in 3 ways.
        1.  Plotting from behind using chinagraph.  When the frosted glass map is lit, the plot is luminescent and thus easy to read.  This procedure was used on the Reichlagekarte, the Hauptlagekarte from the neighboring division and the Flugansagekarte.

       2.  Projection onto the Haupt Lagekarte.  This was throughout the war a challenge and various methods were tried.  In 1, 2, 3, 7 JD and Jafü Däne the Hauptlagekarte was in 1:50:000 with the Jagdgradnetz, Flugmeldemess Stellungen and Funkfeuer depicted.
In 1 JD the Feindlage was projected from the front using a Gefechtbildschreiber.  The position of own fighters were projected by the controlling Jägerleitoffizier using a Lichtpunktwerfer.  Initially projection of the Feindlage had been from the front using Lichtpunktwerfer operated by Ln-Helferein, but this procedure had been discontinued.        In 3 JD the Feindlage was projected from behind using Lichtpunktwerfer.  Since no Tribunen had been built into the construction for this purpose, a special metal rig was constructed for the accommodation of the projector operators.  The position of own fighters were projected by the controlling Jägerleitoffizier using a Lichtpunktwerfer.

In 2 JD and Jafü Däne the Feindlage was projected from the front using Lichtpunktwerfer.  The position of own fighters were projected by the controlling Jägerleitoffizier using a Lichtpunktwerfer.  It seems as if the plotting of the Feindlage in SOKRATES initially was performed from the back using chinagraph.
